Igbere Is Solidly Behind You” — Community Leader Assures Anyaso of Massive Support in 2027

The Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency, Dr. Chima Anyaso, has visited an Igbere community leader, Chief Okorie Ukonu, to appreciate his passionate show of support for his aspiration ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Anyaso made the visit on Sunday following Ukonu’s emotional appeal to voters during a political engagement held on Saturday across the 214 polling units in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.

The engagement brought together representatives from polling units across the 13 wards of Bende to discuss the constituency’s political future and mobilise support for the 2027 elections.

Ukonu had drawn attention at the gathering when he became emotional while appealing to voters from different communities in Bende to support Anyaso’s bid to represent the federal constituency in the House of Representatives.

Speaking during the visit, Anyaso expressed appreciation for the community leader’s commitment, noting that photographs from the previous day’s engagement had brought his passionate appeal to his attention.

He assured Ukonu that he would not disappoint those who had placed their confidence in him, saying the community leader’s show of support had further strengthened his determination to pursue his political ambition.

“I won’t disappoint you. You have given me a reason to fight harder,” Anyaso said.

The Labour Party candidate, who expressed surprise at the depth of Ukonu’s commitment, said he was encouraged by the community leader’s passion despite not recalling any previous telephone conversation between them.

“I can’t even remember speaking with you on the phone before now, yet I have seen the passion you have,” he added.
In his response, Ukonu declared that his decision to support Anyaso’s political ambition was made long before the recent engagement, explaining that he became committed to the project upon learning that the aspirant had joined the Labour Party.

“From the day I knew that you had joined the Labour Party, I became so committed to this project. I have a special grace that I don’t follow a failing party,” he said.

The Igbere leader further expressed confidence in the candidate’s chances, pledging that the community would deliver overwhelming support for his candidacy during the election.

“In this your candidacy, our votes from Igbere will not be less than 95 per cent for this project,” Ukonu declared.

He assured Anyaso that he and other supporters would deploy their efforts towards mobilising voters and securing victory for the Labour Party candidate in the 2027 general elections.

“Be rest assured that anything we can do to ensure victory, we will do it,” he added.
Ukonu also prayed for divine blessings upon Anyaso in appreciation of the visit, expressing hope that the honour shown to him would attract greater blessings to the candidate.

“For this honour done to me, God will honour you,” he said.

Also speaking, Chief Onuoha Emeremba thanked Anyaso for the visit and expressed confidence in the level of support the candidate would receive from Igbere.

Emeremba pledged to work towards ensuring that the community’s votes remained firmly behind Anyaso’s candidacy, insisting that the political situation in the community would be different from previous experiences.

“What happened before will not happen now. Igbere people are solidly behind you. My mind is made up,” he stated.

The visit underscored the growing political engagement surrounding Anyaso’s aspiration to represent Bende Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections, as supporters intensify efforts to mobilise grassroots backing across the constituency.
