ABIA GOVT TRAINING 100 TEACHERS TO TEACH IN SMART SCHOOLS

ABIA government’ say 100 Teachers are undergoing training to teach in the 20 Smart Schools being built by the state government .

The Hon. Commissioner for Information Prince Okey Kanu made this disclosure on Monday the 20th of October 2025 at the government house Umuahia while briefing the press on the out come of the week’s Executive Council meeting Chaired by the state governor Dr Alex Otti .

The Commissioner said work is seriously going on on the Smart Schools and 3 have been completed while others are at various stages of completion .He equally stated that 9 out of the 63 schools being retrofitted in the state have been completed while the remaining 54 is at different stages of work . Some of the schools so far completed are Nkata Community primary school Umuahia Ibeku in Umuahia North LGA, Ohuhu Community Secondry School Ohuhu in Umuahia North LGA, Urata Secondry School Aba ,Umuagbai Secondry School Abayi Aba , Amoba Model Primary School in Isiala Ngwa South LGA among others .

Prince Okey Kanu disclosed that the posting of teachers would be concluded by the end of the month of October 2025 .He said the Council have decided that as the dry season is fast approaching, there would be increased activities in infrastructural development of the state .

He observed that out of the 55 roads marked to be done under Direct Labour , work is on going on 32 Direct Labour road projects . This he said is in line with the zero tolerance to portholes on Abia roads . The information Boss noted that 12 roads have been completed under Direct Labour. Urban renewal work he said is ongoing in Aba even as greater Aba Development Authority is currently handling the Aba ring road to Okpulo Umuobu road , just as Umuovom erosion project is nearing completion while the Enyimba hotel project is progressing on a fast pace .
