Lasting Peace as ABSG Commences Implementation of S/Court Ruling on Ndi Ebe–Ndi Ojiugwo Boundary Matter

The Abia State Government has begun the formal implementation of the Supreme Court judgment resolving the longstanding land dispute between Ndi Ebe and Ndi Ojiugwo Abam in Arochukwu Local Government Area. The apex court had earlier ruled in favour of Ndi Ebe.

Speaking to representatives of both communities, the Chairman of the State Boundary Committee, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu represented by the State Boundary Consultant, Surveyor Chris Nwanevo reassured all parties that the demarcation exercise would be carried out strictly in accordance with the Supreme Court’s decision and guided by fairness and transparency.

He urged members of the communities to refrain from interfering with the process, emphasizing that no villagers would be allowed at the site until the assignment is concluded. He added that stakeholders from both sides would be invited afterward to review the completed work to ensure mutual understanding, agreement, and acceptance.
The committee also assured residents of adequate security presence throughout the exercise to maintain order.

According to the representatives, the administration of Governor Alex Otti remains committed to fostering peace, unity, and sustainable development across the state goals that can only be achieved in a calm and harmonious environment.
“We are here to officially notify you that work has commenced in the area as directed by the Supreme Court ruling in favour of Ndi Ebe,” Nwanevo stated.

“The boundary will be delineated in line with the court’s judgment, and the process will be transparent to ensure that peace is fully restored. Governor Alex Otti, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, and members of the State House of Assembly have all endorsed this action.”

He called on both communities to demonstrate patience and cooperation, stressing that the government has consistently invested in proactive peacebuilding initiatives and expects collective support toward the state’s continued growth and development.

In their separate remarks, Ezeogo Okoko Arunsi (Ocha-oza), President General of Ndi Ebe Abam; Deacon Awo Chijioke; and Mrs. Chinyere Eze Agbai expressed gratitude to the government for its clarification and assurances of fairness in executing the court’s directive.

Similarly, Ezeogo Augustine Ota Ola of Ndi Ojiugwo Abam commended the state government for its intervention, voicing optimism that the boundary implementation process would usher in enduring peace and accelerated development in the area.
