MKO Unveils 12-Point Agenda for Isuikwuato Assembly Seat

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Abia State House of Assembly, Isuikwuato State Constituency, in the 2027 general election, Mayor Kingsley Okoronkwo (MKO), has unveiled a comprehensive 12-point manifesto, outlining his plans to drive development across the constituency if elected.

Presenting the agenda, Okoronkwo said his vision is to deliver people-oriented representation through quality legislation, effective oversight, and sustained engagement with constituents.

According to him, education would receive top priority, with plans to assess the condition of public schools across the constituency, attract intervention projects through agencies such as SUBEB, UBEC and TETFund, and establish ward-based education monitoring committees to improve accountability and learning outcomes.

On security, the PDP candidate pledged to advocate the full implementation of the Abia State Community Policing Law in Isuikwuato, lobby for additional police outposts, strengthen ward vigilante groups, promote the installation of solar-powered CCTV cameras in strategic markets, and push for strict enforcement of anti-grazing laws to protect farmers.

Okoronkwo also promised to promote agriculture by facilitating the registration of cooperative societies in all 10 wards, linking farmers to affordable credit, improving access to farm inputs and machinery, and organising agricultural fairs to enhance productivity and market access.

In the area of infrastructure, he said he would champion the rehabilitation of the Uturu–Isuikwuato–Akara Road, advocate improved rural water supply through solar-powered boreholes, and support initiatives aimed at expanding electricity access through grid extension and renewable energy projects.

The House of Assembly hopeful further pledged to establish a youth skills academy in partnership with relevant agencies, provide entrepreneurship support through startup grants, and organise sporting activities to promote youth development.

For women, he promised to facilitate the establishment of vocational centres, improve access to loans and grants, and advocate greater female participation in governance and public appointments.

On transparency and accountability, Okoronkwo said he would publish periodic constituency project reports, convene regular town hall meetings across the wards, and maintain open communication channels with constituents.

His manifesto also includes plans to improve primary healthcare facilities through the provision of equipment, essential drugs, solar power, and increased advocacy for the deployment of healthcare personnel, while partnering with non-governmental organisations to conduct free medical outreaches.

In the area of digital development, he pledged to collaborate with relevant agencies to establish digital literacy centres, equip schools with computer facilities, and train young people in technology-related skills to improve employment opportunities.

The PDP candidate also outlined proposals for environmental sustainability, including annual tree-planting campaigns, erosion control measures, and partnerships with ecological intervention agencies to address gully erosion affecting communities in the constituency.

On tourism and cultural development, Okoronkwo said he would work towards documenting Isuikwuato’s cultural and natural attractions, improving access to tourist sites, and promoting an annual cultural festival to stimulate economic activities and preserve the area’s heritage.

He further disclosed that, if elected, his first legislative motion would seek emergency intervention for erosion-prone communities, strengthen local security architecture, and advocate the establishment of an Isuikwuato Urban Development Authority to support planned development.

Okoronkwo called on the people of Isuikwuato to support his candidature, assuring them of transparent, inclusive and result-oriented representation in the Abia State House of Assembly.
