OMPAN Delegation Seeks Media Partnership with ASOPADEC, Commends Leadership

The Executive and members of the Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMPAN), Abia State Chapter, on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to the General Manager of the Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ASOPADEC), Ven. Dr. Joshua Onyeike, in Umuahia.

The visit was part of efforts by the association to familiarize itself with the operations and activities of the commission, as well as to explore avenues for strategic collaboration.

Speaking during the meeting, the Vice Chairman of OMPAN, Comrade Chika Nwabueze, who led the delegation, praised the ASOPADEC General Manager for what he described as exemplary leadership and visible achievements since assuming office.

He stated that OMPAN was keen on establishing a working partnership with the commission to enhance the visibility of its programmes and projects, leveraging the association’s strong foothold in the digital media space.

Comr.Nwabueze stressed the importance of closer collaboration, noting that OMPAN is prepared to actively support the commission through effective publicity and accurate dissemination of information to the public.

He further informed the ASOPADEC boss that the association would be celebrating its 10th anniversary later in the year and expressed optimism that the commission would participate in the event.

In his response, the ASOPADEC General Manager, Ven. Dr. Joshua Onyeike, expressed appreciation to the OMPAN leadership for the visit and their interest in partnering with the commission.

He described the initiative as timely, noting that the commission has, in recent times, been confronted with negative narratives in the public domain.

Onyeike welcomed the proposed collaboration, stating that such a partnership would help project factual information about the commission’s activities and correct misconceptions among the public.

He highlighted key interventions undertaken by ASOPADEC, including rural electrification projects, construction of classroom blocks, healthcare facilities, and road development, particularly in oil-producing communities.

The General Manager also disclosed that since assuming office, his administration has recorded notable internal improvements, such as the refurbishment of the commission’s office complex, upgrading of public facilities, and the acquisition of the land housing the office, which was previously on lease.

He reaffirmed ASOPADEC’s readiness to work with OMPAN and assured the association of the commission’s support where necessary.

Officials present at the meeting included the Special Assistant, Engr. Emeka Gberemako, the Social Welfare Officer, Mrs. Amarachi Isaac Nwachukwu, and members of the commission’s Information Unit, among others.
