Afara, Amuzukwu Leaders Throw Weight Behind Demolition Exercise, Commend Otti’s Vision
The ongoing demolition of shanties and makeshift structures in Umuahia, the state capital, has continued to receive commendation from residents.

Speaking on the exercise, the Youth Chairman of Ikiri na Okorie, Umuoleghe Amuzukwu, Mr. Azubuike Ekeleme, alongside Mr. Akandu Jacobson and Mr. Nduka John, pledged the support of residents for the exercise aimed at enhancing the aesthetics of the state capital, describing it as a welcome development.
They noted that the continued proliferation of shanties and makeshift structures along streets and roads in the state capital had provided hideouts for criminals and drug dealers.
According to them, the state government should be supported in its efforts to improve the aesthetics of the capital city and dismantle criminal hideouts.


Also speaking, the President General of Isiama Afara Ukwu Ibeku, Mr. Ojimadu Iregbu, and his Vice President, Mr. Moses Chionye, commended the state government’s commitment to enhancing the aesthetics of the state capital through the removal of shanties, makeshift structures, attachments, and other illegal structures.

They explained that the community would continue to support efforts aimed at dismantling criminal hideouts operating in shanties, attachments, and makeshift structures.
They also pledged their continued support for the transformational programmes of Governor Dr. Alex Otti in the state.
