EMERGE CANDIDATES FROM ABIA SENATORIAL ZONE

Labour party yesterday the 30th of May 2026 held their party primaries nation wide .

In Abia state ,
the primary election held in various wards in the state and collated at the various LGAS of the state .The final results were announced at the International Conference Centre by the state Returning Officer Hon.mrs .
Oluchi Okwara.

At Ogaiuga Nkwoegwu Central School which was the collation centre for Abia Central Senatorial zone . At the end of the various elections for various positions, the following emerged winners both at the zone and at Okaiuga Nkwoegwu Central School the venue for the collation of Abia Central Senatorial zone, the Returning Officer Rev Ohiagba Andrew pronounced Dr Alex Otti as winner of the gubernatorial primary election while Hon Darlington Nwokocha emerged winner to stand for Senatorial election of Abía Central Senatorial zone. Hon. Obi Aguocha won for Ikwuano Umuahia Federal Constituency , while Hon. Anderson Akaliro is winner for Umuahia North State Constituency. The Returning Officer declared the election very peaceful. The police and INEC Officials present attested to the fact that the exercise was peaceful .

At the state collation centre , which was at Ochendo International Conference Centre Umuahia,the state’s Returning Officer Hon. Oluchi Okwara declared Dr Alex Otti the winner of Abía State Guber primary of Labour Party having scored a total vote of 368, 245 votes. With the above result ,Dr. Alex Óttï became Labour party Guber Flag bearer for Abia State.
Hon. Darlington Nwokocha emerged the Senatorial Flag bearer for Abia Central Senatorial zone. The winners of the 8 Federal House of Representatives members were named including Hon. Obi Aguocha for Ikwuano Umuahia, fed. Constituency Chimaobi Ogah , Isukwuato Umunneochi, Desmond Anyaso for
Bende Fed Constituency among others . The winners of the 24 State House Of Assembly seats were named and they include Hon . Okezie Meregini of Umuahia East state Constituency,
Emmanuel Emeruwa ,
Ishiefi of Ikwuano state constituency among others .

Responding at the event , the Abia labour party Guber Candidate Dr. Alex Óttï congratulated all the Candidates that emerged urging them to work hard and ensure they emerge winners in the 2027 general elections . He disclosed that there could be people who belong to no Political party, the Candidates he advised to target such persons and convince them to vote for
Labour party.

In a separate interview,, Hon. Obi Aguocha representing Ikwuano Umuahia Federal Constituency expressed confidence to win the general elections 2027. He promised his constituents of more dividends of democracy now and in 2027 when he emerges .
Hon Anderson Akaliro representing Umuahia North state Constituency said he is a man of excess grace so he is not afraid of winning the 2027 general elections.
