IGBERE COMMUNITY LEADER MAKES EMOTIONAL APPEAL FOR ANYASO’S SUPPORT
“We Appeal to All of You to Support Our Son; He Will Make Us Proud” — Ukonu
An Igbere community leader, Chief Okorie Ukonu, has made an emotional appeal to voters across Bende Federal Constituency to support the Labour Party candidate for the House of Representatives, Dr. Chima Anyaso, ahead of the January 16, 2027 National Assembly election.

Ukonu made the appeal on Saturday during an engagement organised by Anyaso with representatives of voters from the 214 polling units across the 13 wards of Bende Local Government Area, Abia State, as part of his consultations ahead of the election.
Speaking at the gathering, the community leader appealed to voters from Alayi, Item, Ugwueke/Ezeukwu, Uzuakoli, Bende, Itumbauzor, Umuhu/Ezechi, Ozuitem and Umuimenyi/Nkpa to support Anyaso’s aspiration to represent the constituency in the House of Representatives.

In an emotional moment, Ukonu told the participants: “We are appealing to all of you, support this our son, he will make us proud.”
He urged the people across the various communities to unite in supporting the candidate, expressing his desire to see a son of Igbere receive support beyond his immediate community.

Moved by the display of emotion, Anyaso approached Ukonu and asked him to stand up, while reassuring him that he remained optimistic about the Labour Party’s chances in the election.
The encounter was one of the memorable moments of the engagement, which brought together representatives of voters from across Bende’s 214 polling units to discuss the constituency’s political future.
The meeting formed part of Anyaso’s ongoing consultations with voters at the polling-unit level as he seeks support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
