Abia Police Train Officers on Forensic, Fraud Investigation to Boost Professionalism

The Abia State Police Command has concluded a two-day training programme on forensic and fraud investigation aimed at enhancing the investigative capacity and professionalism of officers of the Nigeria Police Force.

The training, held between May 20 and 21, 2026, at the Police Officers’ Mess in Umuahia, was organised in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to build a modern, technology-driven and people-oriented police force anchored on professionalism, accountability and operational excellence.

The conference brought together the Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, members of the Command’s management team, the convener of the training, Pearl Ogulu, facilitators including S. A. S. Aruwa, other resource persons and senior officers of the Command.

Participants at the workshop included Divisional Police Officers, VCRU Sub-Commanders, Divisional Crime Officers, as well as representatives of inspectorate and rank-and-file officers.

Speaking during the training, CP Danladi Isa commended the Inspector-General of Police for his commitment to equipping officers with modern investigative skills needed for effective policing and professional service delivery.

He urged participants to pay close attention during the sessions in order to acquire practical knowledge that would improve investigation and crime detection across the state.

Topics treated during the training included anti-money laundering, terrorist financing and collaboration with the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit, investigation of public sector fraud, discreet investigations, legal ethics and undercover operations, legal aspects of forensic investigation techniques, as well as cyber and digital forensics for police investigations.

The Command noted that the programme significantly enhanced the knowledge and investigative competence of participating officers.
At the close of the training, the Commissioner of Police directed officers to apply the knowledge gained and step it down to personnel within their respective formations.

He also charged officers to uphold professionalism and conduct themselves in ways that would promote a positive image of the Nigeria Police Force while carrying out their duties.
