Ohaneze Youth elects new executive in Abia.

Abia state chapter of the Ohaneze Youth Council has elected Comrade Eugene Okonta as the new state chairman and Comrade Onyekachi Mbanaso as the state secretary.

Also elected into the OYC executive council,,Nwuju Chidinma State Deputy Chairman Admin, Comrade Ndubuisi Okonkwo, Assistant State Secretary, Comrade Udochi Ubani Treasurer, and Comrade Darlington Ezekiel, Finance Secretary.

Also elected were Comrade Ezema Johnbosco, Publicity Secretary, Comrade Chimezie Azuonwu,, Deputy Publicity Secretary, Mpamah Chibuzo Assistant Organizing secretary, Comrade Okedi Alwell, welfare secretary, Comrade Okechi Chigozie Alwell, and Comrade Igwe Obinna, Deputy Welfare Officer.

The rest include Comrade Martins Omeruo Ex-Officio 1,, chairman Abia North, comrade Igwe Kalu Ojike, Comrade Chibuihe Nwaogu, Zonal Chairman, Abia South and Comrade Jerry Onwumere, State Deputy Chairman Operations.

Speaking while inaugurating the newly elected Excutive Members, which coincided with the 2025 Convention and General Elections of the Organization, held at Kolping Society Umuahia, the National President, Ohaneze Youth Council, Comrade Igboayaka O Igboayaka enjoined them to see their election as a call to serve to contribute their quote towards the growth and development of Alaigbo in General.

Comrade Igboayaka urged them to mobilize people, especially Progressive minded Igbo Youth, in the rebuilding agenda of Alaigbo at the grassroots in line with the vision of the founding fathers of Igbo Land.

In their remarks, the National Publicity Secretary Ohaneze Youth Council, Comrade Authority Ukpabi and Secretary Convention Committee, Comrade Lucky Uzochi George described the elections as hitch free, fair and credible and congratulated them on their emergence as the Executive body of the Organization, Abia State Chapter.

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected state chairman, Comrade Okonta promised that his administration would mobilised Igbo youths in the state for social reengineering and development of the state, for the actualisation of the collective goodwill of Igbo youths in particular and and Igbo nation at large.

Comrade Okonta assured that he would interface with relevant governmental and non-governmental authorities to ensure that crimes and criminality are reduced to the barest minimum.
He further appealed to government and state and federal lawmakers to initiate youth friendly bills and programmes that would empower youths, which would help to create law and order in the society.

He made it clear that the current economic situation in the country is not enough for youths to engage in kidnapping , cybercrime, and other criminality and further challenged them to always be prepared as instrument of law be their brothers keeper and in wading off intruders in Igboland.
The state chairman warned youths in the state and country at large to shun hard drugs and stay away from crimes as they are injurious to their health and well-being.

Members of Ohaneze Youth Council are expected to serve for a period of four years, and the inauguration ceremony attracted the presence of observers from the State Security services, lovers of Alaigbo, among other notable dignitaries.
