Abia Police Command Strengthens Protection of Schools, Worship Centres and Key Facilities

The Abia State Police Command has renewed its commitment to safeguarding schools, worship centres and other critical infrastructures across the state, in line with directives from the Inspector General of Police and the ongoing security agenda of the Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Danladi Isa.

Following his security tour of Area Commands, Divisions and Tactical Units on 22 November 2025, the Commissioner directed the introduction of Routine Registers in schools to ensure strict accountability and enhance the effectiveness of officers deployed to protect such institutions.

As part of these heightened security measures, the Commissioner on Tuesday, 25 November 2025, convened a strategic meeting with key stakeholders, including representatives of traditional rulers, community leaders, chief security officers of corporate organizations, tertiary institutions, school administrators and market leaders.

CP Isa emphasized that such engagements will be held regularly to gather feedback on emerging security issues across communities. He described stakeholders as vital partners in crime prevention and urged them to provide timely, useful information to the Police while maintaining close collaboration with their Divisional Police Officers and Area Commanders.

The CP further encouraged communities to strengthen their local security watch and desist from shielding criminal elements. He warned that harbouring offenders undermines collective safety, adding that every resident has a duty to contribute to the protection of their environment.

Reassuring attendees, CP Isa disclosed that both overt and covert operations have been intensified statewide. He noted that residents will notice increased police patrols and visibility before, during and after the festive season, all aimed at ensuring the continued safety of lives and property in Abia.

Stakeholders in attendance commended the Commissioner for his proactive approach and pledged their full cooperation toward realizing the Command’s vision of a safer and more secure Abia State.
