SURVEY REPORTS RATE ABIA STATE HEALTH SECTOR HIGH

The Abia State government’ have continued to get high scores in her health sector, leading to the state being rated first in cases of health emergency responses .
The Abia state Commissioner for Information Prince Okey Kanu disclosed this to the press while briefing them on Monday the 24th of November 2025 at the government house Umuahia on the out come of the week’s Executive Council meeting headed by the State governor Dr. Alex Otti.
Speaking , Prince Kanu said following the result of a 2025 survey carried out by an organisation known as SBN ,Abia state was rated no 1 in health preparedness index for emergency control cases .
He appreciated the SBN Intelligence, a research and strategic communications consultant, for their thorough research and rating the state high . He attributed the milestone achieved by the state to the health reforms of Governor Alex Otti and
a per capita health spend of about N22,962,000 Naira also a 15% consistent budget allocation to the health sector since 2023.
“The whole report translates to an impressive human development index of 0.674, one of the best in the country and more than the national average” Prince Kanu stated.
He informed that work and the functionalization of the Primary health centres are progressing well and may be concluded before the end of the year. He said Abia have enrolled a total of 217,000 persons in the state’s and national health insurance enrollment scheme . The Commissioner called on the people to continue to register in the health Scheme for easy access to health care in the state .
Prince Kanu announced that the Abia Medical Outreach for 2025 will hold between the 12th and 15th of December 2025, adding that, plans have reached advanced stages to ensure a hitch-free medical outreach during the exercise.
Prince Kanu disclosed that the Abia-Turkey Investment Summit would hold between the 25th and 27th of November, 2025, at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia.
The the summit he said would highlight the investment potential of the state, while strengthening the bilateral business relations between Nigeria and Turkey, and Abia State and Turkey in particular .
Pince Kanu further disclosed that the Abia state government have concluded arrangements for the renovation of two federal government owned outfits in the state , the Ojukwu Bunker and the National war museum both in Umuahia. He said work would commence soon on the outfits and jobs are expected to be created when completed .
He again disclosed that the state government is planning for a colourful Christmas for Abians . According to him there would be a comedy fest featuring great Artists and Comedians such as the popular P . Square among others
Inline with this , the state is being decorated and monuments being mounted at strategic points in Umuahia . Very soon similar exercise he said would commence in Aba and other parts of the state .
