ANYASO URGES PRESIDENT TINUBU TO INTERVENE IN NNAMDI KANU’S LIFE SENTENCE

The 2023 Deputy Governorship candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) in Abia State and founder of Caades Group, Dr. Chima Anyaso, has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently intervene following the life imprisonment sentence handed down to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, by Justice James Omotosho on Wednesday.

In a statement issued yesterday, Dr. Anyaso expressed deep concern over the impact of the judgment on the people of the South East, noting that the development has heightened pain, anxiety, and uncertainty across the region.

The businessman and political leader said he had refrained from commenting on the matter for long, not out of fear or indifference, but from a belief that emotional reactions alone would not resolve the ongoing tensions. However, he stated that the current situation demanded that he lend his voice.

According to him, the continued detention and now sentencing of Nnamdi Kanu has transcended political lines and become a symbol of the frustration and feelings of abandonment experienced by many in the South East.

“What is happening to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has gone beyond politics. It has become a painful reminder of how much hurt and frustration my people feel. The tension is eating deep into the soul of our region.”

Anyaso appealed to President Tinubu to review the case and consider a political solution, stressing that the prolonged crisis only deepens insecurity and erodes hope among young people in the region.

“Mr. President, we are begging with respect: Please look into this case again. The South East is bleeding. Our youths are losing hope. Families are living in fear. The longer this drags on, the deeper the insecurity grows and nobody wins in the end.”

He emphasized that the call was not for special treatment, but for fairness, understanding, and a pathway to peace.
“Peace in the South East is possible, but justice must lead the way,” he added.

Dr. Anyaso concluded by praying for wisdom for national leaders and for healing across the country.
