CP Afolabi Orders Improved Patrols, Professionalism, Accountability in Abia Police Command

The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, psc+, mnips, JP, has directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Heads of Tactical Units and Heads of Departments to strengthen policing strategies, professionalism and accountability across the Command.

CP Afolabi gave the directive on Thursday, September 10, 2026, during his monthly strategic conference with senior officers of the Command, where he reviewed security operations and charged officers to sustain the community safety partnership at all levels.

The Commissioner directed enhanced patrols, particularly in non-motorable areas, while insisting on the use of properly marked operational vehicles and professional turnout of officers in uniform, including visible name tags.

He also ordered officers to improve public accessibility by publishing official contact details and installing suggestion boxes at police formations, stressing the need for civility in dealing with members of the public and zero tolerance for extortion.

Afolabi further charged officers to comply strictly with the Nigeria Police Force Social Media Policy, adopt proactive measures against emerging security threats, protect informants and act promptly on credible intelligence.

He directed intensified efforts against drug abuse in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), while emphasising respect for human rights and effective coordination during joint security operations.

The CP also called for stronger action against human trafficking and irregular migration, including enforcement of the Brown Card, and urged officers to maintain unity of purpose in preserving peace, discipline and order across the Command.

He stressed the importance of strict adherence to the chain of command, directing junior officers to respect their superiors and senior officers to provide firm, fair and responsible leadership to their subordinates.

The Commissioner charged all officers to ensure that the directives issued at the conference translate into measurable results, in line with the Inspector-General of Police’s directive on professionalism and accountability.
