Deputy Governor Emetu Honours Late Elder Mrs. Grace Olo Ndukwe at Abiriba Funeral

The Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, on Friday joined relatives, friends, church leaders, and other distinguished personalities in Abiriba, Ohafia Local Government Area, to pay his final respects to Late Elder Mrs. Grace Olo Ndukwe the devoted wife of Most Rev. Dr. Olo Ndukwe of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria.

The funeral service, held in a solemn atmosphere, drew a large congregation of mourners from different parts of Abia State and beyond. It was a moment filled with deep emotion, gratitude, and reflection on the impactful life of the departed matriarch, who was celebrated for her unwavering faith and commitment to service.

Speaking during the funeral service organized by the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria at Abiriba, Engr. Emetu expressed heartfelt grief over her passing, describing the late Elder Mrs. Ndukwe as “a virtuous woman of rare faith, compassion, and selfless devotion a beacon whose life continues to inspire many.”

He further noted that her steadfast dedication to the Presbyterian Church and her positive influence within the community remain “a living testimony to a life wholly devoted to God and humanity.”

Encouraging the bereaved family to find comfort in God’s promises, the Deputy Governor urged them to take solace in the assurance that their beloved mother had completed her earthly journey in faith and now rests peacefully in the presence of the Lord.

In his homily titled “When We Are Helpless,” the Principal Clerk of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria General Assembly, Most Rev. Prof. Miracle Ajah, reminded the congregation that God never abandons His children, even in their lowest moments. He emphasized that while human strength, wealth, or power may fail, God remains our refuge, strength, and ever-present help in times of trouble.

Drawing from biblical examples such as Hagar in the wilderness, the Israelites at the Red Sea, and Elijah in his weariness, Rev. Ajah illustrated how God always provides a way out and renews strength for the helpless. He urged believers to trust and look up to God, who is always in control and will never leave nor forsake them.

In a touching tribute, the husband of the deceased, Most Rev. Dr. Olo Ndukwe, described his beloved wife as a supportive partner, a woman of deep faith, and a pillar of strength in both family and ministry. He recalled her as a devoted servant of God who lived out her Christian values daily, demonstrating humility, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the work of the Lord. According to him, she rekindled her zeal for Christ in her later years, dedicating her time and energy to prayer, evangelism, and inspiring others to draw closer to God. Her vision to win souls for Christ remained her driving passion until her final days, leaving behind a lasting legacy of love, faith, and service to humanity.

The service attracted an impressive array of dignitaries, including the Prelate and Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, His Eminence Dr. Ekpenyong Nyong Akpanuka; the Special Adviser to the Governor on Trade, Commerce and Industry, Chief Nwaka Inem; the Mayor of Ohafia LGA, Chief Eleanya Kalu Ojuu; former Mayor of Ohafia, Chief David Ogba Onuoha; as well as prominent religious figures, community leaders, and members of the Presbyterian Church from across the nation.
