Kalu Distributes Desks, Bags, Writing Materials to Bende Schools Under Renewed Hope Education Support Programme

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and member representing Bende Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, has distributed educational materials to selected schools in Bende Federal Constituency under the Renewed Hope Education Support Programme.

The event, held in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, saw the distribution of desks, writing materials and school bags to schools across the constituency as part of efforts aimed at improving the learning environment and promoting access to quality education.

Addressing pupils and teachers during the exercise, the Deputy Speaker said the initiative was designed to renew hope through education and equip young learners with the tools needed to excel academically and contribute meaningfully to national development.

He urged the students to take their studies seriously, reminding them that education remains one of the strongest foundations for a better future.

“I was once like you. With hard work and dedication, you can become doctors, lawyers, engineers and even greater than us. Education gives you the opportunity to build your future and solve problems our generation may not be able to solve,” Kalu said.

He noted that the intervention was intended to ensure pupils no longer study under difficult conditions, especially by sitting on bare floors or lacking basic learning materials.

According to him, the programme will continue with more schools benefiting across the constituency, adding that academic competitions including debate, mathematics and English contests would also be introduced to encourage excellence and reward outstanding performance among students.

Also speaking, the Director-General of the Benjamin Kalu Campaign Council and Federal Commissioner representing Abia State in the National Population Commission, Chief Emmanuel Trump Eke, described the intervention as a sustained commitment to improving education in Bende Federal Constituency.

He disclosed that the distribution of furniture to schools had become a regular intervention in the constituency, noting that this year’s programme was expanded to include stationery and school bags.

Chief Emmanuel Trump Eke said the initiative was already making visible impact by improving classroom conditions and helping pupils learn in a more conducive environment.

“We are raising the standard for our children. We want to move them away from writing and sitting on the floor and expose them to a better learning environment. What we are seeing today is another practical step towards improving education and giving the children a stronger appreciation for knowledge,” he said.

The beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful in strengthening teaching and learning across schools in Bende Federal Constituency.
