Stolen SUV Recovered in Abia, Suspect in Custody

Umuahia, August 28, 2025 – The Abia State Police Command has announced the recovery of a stolen Toyota Highlander SUV and the arrest of a suspect linked to a 2022 car theft case in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen C. Chinaka, officers from the Scorpion Squad acted on credible intelligence to recover the vehicle on August 22, 2025. The SUV, bearing registration number BBR 667 RM, was traced to a location in Abia State after being reported stolen in Uyo.

The police also confirmed the arrest of one Emeka Edwin Chukwuma, a male suspect from Umuchu in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, in connection with the stolen vehicle.

The rightful owner of the SUV has been contacted to assist in verifying ownership and furthering the investigation, which, according to the police, is still ongoing.
