THE PRESIDENT WOMEN’S FELLOWSHIP METHODIST CHURCH OF NIGERIA CHARGE PARENTS ON PROPER UP BRINGING OF THE GIRL CHILD

The Umuahia Archdiocesan And Diocesan Women Fellowship President Dr. Mrs Alice Chioma Opoko have called on parents to pay good attention to the up bringing of the girl child to avoid them from easily falling prey of some societal vices .

Dr . Mrs Opoko who was speaking at the annual Women Fellowship Conference and 50th Anniversary Golden Jubilee of the women fellowship which took place on the 6th of September 2025 at Zion city Methodist church Aguiyi Ironsi Layout Umuahia, said as women of Methodist Church they have gathered to discuss Issues as it affects God , their life , including their children and their husbands . She also disclose that they used the occassion if the anniversary to launched their new uniform . She urged the women to put God first bin what ever the do , they should be serious with God because this is a perilous time , they should be prayerful and be serious in training their children especially their girl child . According to her they are instructing parents especially mothers on the need to inculcate sound morals to their children especially the girl child , give them good education and train them to respect their seniors more so to be humble and respect their husbands when they get married .

Dr Mrs Opoko reiterated the need to empower Women noting that a woman who is empowered not not easily be oppressed but one that is not empowered and is totally dependent on a man can easily be abused . She said women should not only be empowered with ski acquisition but they should equally be given all round Empowerment with knowledge and be given their full right.

Speaking on the issue of high rate of divorce in the Society, the president said that is one of the issues they tackling by teaching the women the importance of humility in a home . Explaining further , she observed that Ed mother was trained to respect her husband and she too was trained to respect her husband . She said Children of this day lack this training the training they have according to her is that of equal rights , in the church there is nothing as equal rights in the bible when Eve sinned ,God punished her by lacing her under a man and it has been so , it is this same Vod we look up to for our protection and guidance , she stated .

Speaking the Special Guest of Honor of the Occassion ,The Accountant General of the state Mrs Njum Nnennaya Uma Onyemenam lectured the women that in this perilous times and harsh economy several mothers have been affected. She said however they should not despair , all hope is not lost for God still cares for them assuring them that they will rise again .All they need to do is to apply three basic principles of one , having Faith in God two , they need to apply Prayers and thirdly the need to apply Service to God . She observed that with these three Cardinal principles ,any woman who has fallen , must surely rise again .

The Chairman of the Planning Committee Hon. Uche Achigbu Hank God for the success of the event saying the occassion turned out to be a huge success due to the hand o God that was on the occasion .
