GOVERNOR OTTI GIVES OUT FREE LAPTOP TO SENIOR CIVIL SERVANTS .

The Governor of Abía State Dr. Alex Otti have distributed free Laptops To senior civil Servants in the state .

The state Commissioner for Information , Prince Okey Kanu disclosed this on Monday while briefing the press on the outcome of the week’s Executive Council Meeting which took place at the government house Umuahia . The commissioner said the governor did this to improve the efficiency of the top cadre in Abia state work force stating that other cadres will equally benefit from the exercise very soon. This he said is in line with the digitisation of Abía State Civil Service.

Prince Kanu disclosed that the state government have concluded plans to recruit more Teachers .
He said about 28,213 individuals applied for the 2nd batch of the teachers’ recruitment exercise as the government plan to engage additional 4000 teachers to augment the existing 5000 already engaged . Successful Candidates would proceed to have a Computer Based Test and for the final stage , they would go for interviews and successful Candidates would be recruited .

Prince Kanu announced that the state government has inaugurated the Abia State Safe Schools Steering Committee, saying that, the committee was inaugurated to safeguard the lives and property in Abia educational institutions .

The Commissioner disclosed that 2 smart schools would be ready for commissioning in February,
as work is progressing on other smart schools projects across the state .

The Commissioner added that significant milestones have been recorded in terms of infrastructure, equipment, and training for the teachers who will run the smart schools when fully operational .

The Information boss highlighted major digital milestones recently achieved by the Governor Otti-led administration through the Office of the Chief Information Officer of the state to include, the establishment of a Document Digitisation Bureau for land records, a centralised Online Recruitment Platform, the redesign of the Abia State Government website, and the rollout of an e-Health project in Six Pilot Hospitals

Prince Kanu, who noted that the pilot phase of the electric buses ride in the state has recorded very strong commuter response, indicating trust in government and her transport initiatives . This revealed that so far, over 31,500 passengers have enjoyed the free bus rides which would continue until full commercial operations commence.

.The supporting infrastructure for the operations of the bus mass transit service such as the Ultra Modern Bus Terminal, junction improvement works in Umuahia, the installation of the charging stations, and all other support infrastructure are being readied for the full commencement of the bus commercial
services” Prince Kanu stated.
